Profile capture

Let customers save birthday, size, and communication preferences.

View as Markdown ↗

Let logged-in customers save a few useful details about themselves — birthday, preferred size, and contact preferences. This is zero-party data customers give you directly, perfect for birthday offers, better size recommendations, and respectful marketing.

Where it appears

The Profile page (and optionally Orders and Order status). Add the Optimalify Profile block in the customer account editor.

How it works

You choose which fields to ask for and the wording in Optimalify; your customers fill in the values on their account page. Configure in the app, then place the block in the editor — the same two steps as the other blocks.

Set it up

  1. Apps → Optimalify → Blocks → Profile.
  2. Set the options below, set Status = Active, and Save.
  3. Add the Optimalify Profile block in the customer account editor.

Options

OptionNotes
StatusActive shows the form to signed-in customers; Draft hides it.
HeadingSection title (max 80). Leave blank to use the built-in, per-language wording.
SubheadingShort line under the heading (max 160). Leave blank for the built-in wording.
Fields to collectToggle Birthday, Preferred size, and Contact preferences. Turn on at least one, or the block won’t show.
Contact preference optionsWhen Contact preferences is on, add your own opt-ins — e.g. “New arrivals”, “VIP early access”, “Weekly digest”.

Where the data goes

  • Saved values are stored on the customer as app-owned metafields (birthday, size, and the contact preferences they ticked).
  • You can see them in Shopify admin on the customer’s profile, and use them in segments, flows, and marketing.

Good to know

  • Only signed-in customers can fill in the profile, so preview while logged in.
  • Leave heading/subheading blank and Optimalify uses friendly wording, translated per customer language.
  • Collect only what you’ll use, and tell customers why (e.g. “so we can send you a birthday treat”). Handle the data in line with your privacy policy and local rules.
